Gut renovation of five historical Harvard-owned buildings for a large financial services client. These historical building served as a boutique think tank campus near prominent academic resources. In addition to the gut historical restoration of the building shells, the project included a comprehensive integration of data systems, dual fiber runs, provisions for full back-up power generation, and the addition of a LULA elevator in the large building and a vertical lift in the center building. The end result was a historically correct exterior restoration with period detailing and color schemes, and a modern interior with innovative furnishing and finishes with state of the art building systems and controls.
Land-use permitting included Planning Board and Historical Commission approvals and variances from the Massachusetts Architectural Access Board were secured. Streetscape, landscaping and signage improvements were also completed in a parallel project that required additional City of Cambridge permitting as entrance point improvements, parking configurations and public walking surfaces were modified.
